What’s this about and why does it even warrant a mention?

Here’s why: We’re in Maryland, and the state’s Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) requires that every vehicle on a dealer’s sales floor has to pass a safety inspection before being sold and it’s the toughest one in the country.

The program’s express purpose is to protect and assure the car buyer that the car being purchased is safe to drive. As a result, the buyer is spared the fear of being ripped off due to hidden safety defects and high replacement costs for items such as brake pads and rotors, suspension, tires, and wheels, etc.

It does cost us more to meet those specs, but, in the long run, the buyer benefits. Peace of mind is everything, and certainly so when buying a pre-owned car. And, for the doubters, it’s the Maryland State Police, and not the MVA, who are charged with monitoring the inspection stations and enforcing full adherence to inspection protocols. In Maryland, Vehicle safety is serious business.
